June was a very exciting and successful month for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our Garden Party to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday. We had a fantastic day, with a visit from the local Fire Brigade, Bottle Stall, BBQ, Cake & Candy Stall, Face Painting, Raffle Stall and we even transformed our dining room into a vintage tea room and had a posh tea party. We managed to raise a fantastic £960.00 for the residents comfort fund. We have also enjoyed an afternoon out at our local church this month where we attend Musical Minds. We all look forward to attending this event on this first Wednesday of every month as it gives us a chance to catch up with our local community and have a little sing-a-long; this is all arranged by Alzheimer’s Scotland. We have also enjoyed a little afternoon across at our local hotel in Dalbeattie where we enjoyed a little drink or two and some wonderful home baking which was delicious. Everyone at Alma McFadyen House would like to say a very big warm welcome to our new care assistant, Samantha Nelson who joined our care team this month, she is settling in really well. David, our maintenance man, has been hard at work in the gardens and grounds around our home in the recent weeks and has got it looking lovely. We have had so many family, friends and members of the community pass comment on how much of difference this has made. The residents had fun helping David plant some herbs, plants and sweet peas which are growing very fast.
